Convergence: A Solo Playback Theatre Performance

Can we find points of contact that offer perspective and help us live with empathy in these polarized times? CONVERGENCE invites the audience to share personal stories of disconnection and (re)connection – stories layered through the prism of gender, disability, privilege, politics, religion, family, relationships – and then watch as the actress uses her creativity and skill to play back a dramatized retelling of the story, on the spot, through evocative movement, sound, music, and text. Playback Theatre is a form of improvisational theatre where the performer improvises on the spot the personal stories shared by the audience. It provides a powerful way of connecting to others’ perspectives and building community.  By witnessing their lives being mirrored on the stage, everyone becomes involved in a process that moves from the personal to the social.
